UNI Alumni Association
The UNI Alumni Engagement Fund is a critical source of support for the UNI Alumni Association. Without the financial support of our Panther Family, we would not be able to communicate, engage, and connect with our alumni and friends across the country.
The University of Northern Iowa Alumni Association serves more than 124,000 living alumni and is dedicated to strengthening the University of Northern Iowa by involving alumni in the life of the University and the University in the lives of their former students. The Association was organized in 1879 “to promote the interests of the alumni of ISNS (Iowa State Normal School).” It was incorporated as the University of Northern Iowa Alumni Association on July 12, 1972.
The UNIAA has three primary functions; communicate, engage, and connect alumni to the university. The Association drives the primary avenues of communication between the University and its graduates and friends. The organization’s official publication, the UNI Magazine, is published once a year. In addition, the Association sends a monthly email newsletter to all alumni and friends. We host more events across the state and nation engaging our alumni near and far. These events educate our constituents about opportunities for involvement and to raise awareness of the issues and challenges facing UNI.
The UNIAA sponsors reunions, award programs, scholarships, and events for students and alumni. Association programs include, but are not limited to, Golden Graduate Society reunion, Heritage Honours alumni awards, Homecoming, GradFest, and the Traditions Challenge program. We also sponsor the student alumni organization called CATS (Connecting Alumni To Students). This group of students has a strong identity on campus, including playing a vital role as liaison between the Association and the UNI student body. These students give tours, organize the Traditions Challenge, and serve as volunteers for UNIAA, UNI Foundation, and several of the colleges’ events.
